Discover Algonac Flaming Grill, a welcoming family-style restaurant at 1065 St Clair River Dr, Algonac, MI 48001, United States. Overlooking the St. Clair River and sitting directly across from the Algonac Boardwalk, this local diner combines generous portions, an enormous menu, friendly service, and relaxing waterfront character. For a food blogger, its greatest appeal is versatility: breakfast classics sit comfortably beside American comfort food, Greek specialties, Italian dishes, Mexican favourites, seafood, and flame-grilled meats.
The menu makes Algonac Flaming Grill in Algonac particularly useful for families or groups with different cravings. Diners can choose omelettes, pancakes, burgers, sandwiches, pitas, steaks, ribs, seafood, pasta, quesadillas, salads, and daily specials. Typical spending is around $10–$20 per person, although breakfast customers frequently report spending under $10. The restaurant also offers a kids’ menu, vegetarian selections, takeaway, wheelchair accessibility, free parking, Wi-Fi, card payments, and a full bar.
One signature starter worth ordering is the Opa! Saganaki. This Greek-inspired cheese appetizer arrives hot alongside soft pita bread, offering a rich, salty opening to the meal. A recent diner compared its flavour favourably with something they would expect in Detroit’s Greektown. For a substantial main course, the Baby Back Ribs are another standout. Customer feedback describes the meat as exceptionally tender and high quality, complemented by hot, crispy fries.
Breakfast deserves equal attention. The Corned Beef Hash & Eggs is repeatedly praised and represents the restaurant’s classic diner side particularly well. Eggs, hearty hash, potatoes, toast, skillets, waffles, and extensive omelette choices make mornings one of the strongest reasons to visit. One recent Google reviewer summed up the experience as: “Nice big menu. Great portions and fast friendly service.”
The dining room has a comfortable hometown atmosphere rather than an upscale design. Booths and tables make it suitable for families, while large waterside murals reinforce the riverfront setting. Better still, guests can watch freighters travelling along the St. Clair River, giving the meal a sense of place that many ordinary diners cannot match.
Customer feedback is generally positive, especially regarding portion sizes, quick service, breakfast, and friendly staff. Still, experiences are not completely uniform. One diner found a chicken quesadilla somewhat bland, while another noted that certain prices felt high for a casual diner. These are useful considerations, but the broad menu and generous servings remain major strengths.
Special touches include Taco Tuesday-style daily promotions, a full bar, children’s choices, and assorted cheesecakes for dessert. With breakfast through dinner available most days, Algonac Flaming Grill works equally well for an early family breakfast or a relaxed evening meal.
For anyone comparing the best restaurants in Algonac for approachable local dining experiences, Algonac Flaming Grill is an easy place to recommend for variety, portions, river views, and hometown hospitality. Call +1 810-512-5184 and visit with an appetite for comforting food and an unmistakably local Michigan dining experience.

My husband really enjoyed his coneys and I had i think it was called the village. Very good just wish it didn't have so many mushrooms. Lol. French fries were perfectly cooked. By the time got home they were soggy which I love soggy fries
I’m honestly surprised by some of the low reviews. We were visiting from out of state, and this place came highly recommended by a local, so we decided to give it a try. Everything we ordered was delicious. The tuna melt was easily the best I’ve ever had. The Cobb salad was fresh and flavorful, and the homemade ranch was fantastic. The French toast was absolute perfection, and the fish and chips were just as impressive. The staff was warm, welcoming, funny, and incredibly attentive throughout our meal. This is diner perfection. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! A local Michigan restaurant with wonderful staff, great food, and FAST service! They have so many options on the menu, it's hard to choose. Excellent specials, too! The prices are more than reasonable and the portions are a GOOD size. Like I said, I love this place and will visit on a regular basis!
First time here and it was excellent. From being seated, to the service, to the quality of the food, Algonac Flaming Grill really made an impression on us. Waitress was kind, polite and patient. Both breakfasts (corned beef hash/eggs and 2 eggs breakfast special) were fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. So glad we stopped in. Definitely will be back the next time we visit Algonac.
I love this place!!! The food is always good and hot!!! The staff is amazing and so friendly!! I recommend this place 100%
Huge menu - something for everyone for sure. Daily specials - the night we had dinner was Taco Tuesday with nachos & burritos also on special. We were in the mood for Greek and started with the Saganaki. It arrived with some excellent soft & chewy Pita Bread and tasted just like I was in Greektown. So I followed up with a Gyro Dinner which came with a crisp dinner salad (I ordered the Pink Greek Dressing too). Was plenty to take and have lunch the next day. Onions, tomatoes, and good amount of pita came with the dinner as well as a large side of Tzatziki Sauce. I opted for the baked potato instead of the rice. My husband ordered the full slab of baby back ribs - they looked -and he said - they were delish. VERY tender and high quality. Fries were HOT yay and crispy. He went for the chicken noodle instead of salad which was also good. I also stopped for lunch not long ago and ordered the grilled chicken shish kebabs - very tasty and love the flame grilled meat. We've had breakfast a lot here and will come more often for the lunches and dinners! A full bar is also offered. This is a family style restaurant - good quality - large portions - and very kid friendly. Booth and table seating with large waterside murals line the walls. Great view of the St. Clair River freighters passing - and right across the street from the Algonac Boardwalk to get a walk in after a good meal. GREAT PLACE TOO for a carry out! We saw many patrons coming in leaving with large bags of food!
Just moved to area and stopped in. The beef barley soup was very good. We got a burger and fries..that was also good. We also got meatloaf dinner. The helping was very good. I did notice prices on high side for a Coney style place. I think the coneys are priced over $3.00 a pc..that's most I ever seen. We will be back and try more.
